SLOW LIVING
5 minutes in the morning that change the whole day

And what if a good morning didn't look like the ones on social media? This article talks about soft, realistic routines with no pressure, just enough to start the day feeling calmer, aligned, and present to yourself.
reading time: about 3 min
we’ve been sold a lot on the idea of the “perfect morning routine”.
waking up at 5am.
intense workouts before sunrise.
the flawless green smoothie.
journaling, meditation, emails already handled before 8am.
and if some women really connect with that, that’s great.
but the truth is, there isn’t just one right way to start your day.
because we don’t all have the same rhythm.
not the same body.
not the same energy upon waking.
not the same constraints, nor the same needs.
some women love moving as soon as they wake up. others need silence.
some take an hour for themselves, others only 5 minutes between two obligations.
and none of these routines is “less good”.
deep down, a routine isn’t supposed to become a new source of pressure.
it should simply help us feel a little better.
more aligned.
more at peace.
more present with ourselves before diving into the noise of the day.
starting softly, before the world arrives
the first reflex we often have upon waking is reaching for our phone.
notifications. messages. social media. news.
and without even realizing it, our mind is already elsewhere before the day has even really begun.
so sometimes, the most beautiful gift we can give ourselves in the morning is simply a few minutes without a screen.
not as a strict rule.
just as a breath.
letting your brain wake up gently.
hearing the silence of the apartment.
opening the curtains.
taking the time to exist a little before consuming the outside world.
even thirty minutes can make a real difference.
gently waking up the body
in the morning, our body comes out of a long period of rest. and often, it simply needs gentleness rather than harshness.
drinking a glass of warm water upon waking can help rehydrate the body and gently wake up the digestive system after the night. it’s a very simple, almost ordinary gesture, but one that often brings an immediate feeling of well-being.
then comes breakfast.
not the one from social media.
not the one that has to be “perfect”.
not the one that makes you feel guilty.
just a breakfast that truly nourishes.
yes, with things that bring energy and nutrients to get through the day. but also with foods that bring joy. because a pleasant moment matters just as much as nutritional balance.
a warm matcha.
some toast.
a gently prepared bowl.
fruit.
or simply something comforting before heading out.
what matters most is perhaps less what’s on the plate… than taking the time to savor it.
a few minutes just for yourself
when we can, adding a small calm moment in the morning can really change the way we move through the day.
reading a few pages of a book.
breathing deeply for a few minutes.
doing a bit of heart coherence breathing to soothe the nervous system.
stretching gently.
taking a short walk.
doing yoga, pilates, or simply moving your body slowly.
not to “optimize” your morning.
not to check a box.
simply to reconnect with yourself.
and some mornings, we won’t have the time or the desire to do all of that. and that’s okay too.
a routine doesn’t need to be perfect to be beneficial.
the words we repeat to ourselves matter more than we think
we often underestimate the impact of what we tell ourselves upon waking.
starting your day by immediately thinking about stress, obligations, or everything left to do can put us in tension before we’ve even left the bed.
so sometimes, taking a few seconds to repeat kind words to ourselves changes more than we imagine.
“i’m going to do my best today.”
“i deserve to live this day peacefully.”
“i can move forward at my own pace.”
some women also like to visualize their day for a few moments: imagining a meeting going well, a calm moment, a more confident or peaceful version of themselves.
these aren’t magic solutions.
but they are small habits that reconnect us to a gentler energy before starting the day.
and sometimes, 5 minutes are already enough to change everything.
